Discovery – First step in any project is one of discovery. We have to learn about the site, the scope of the project, your hopes, your dreams, and the wants, needs, and expectations you have for your specialty home. And, you must learn about us to be at ease with our experience, our build strategy, and the quality level we produce. There is just no getting around it. When you know how to build well and you hold quality construction as a noble goal, it’s nearly impossible to do anything to a lower standard than you are capable of.  We just want to make sure that the home we produce matches the home you’re expecting.

Plus,,,,,, and not to be minimized, we will have brutally honest conversation about the dollars. Building a specialty home is serious business and we have a pretty good ideas what those hopes and dreams cost. Just to make sure that the scope, the quality, and the budget are in reasonable alignment we need to have the discussion. We of course will just be estimating at this stage, but we know within reason how things will cost out.

This discovery can be done with a meeting online or in person, but eventually a site visit will be required, in fact it’s something I hope for. Site visits are where the real understanding begins. It’s great fun to hike around and see what you’re seeing and discover what the site has to offer.

Design - The Hardwood Mall has an exclusive relationship with Natural Element Homes for the design of our specialty homes. They also supply the materials to bring the Natural Element Homes signature look to your project. Design is not a wild
unrestricted enterprise, it’s a diligent disciplined effort to get you a beautiful home fits the site, that meets all your needs, and contains as many of your wants and desires that will fit into your budget, the cost you determine is right for you.

Budgeting – In partnership with Natural Element Homes we have developed a proprietary budgeting system that allows us to analyze your home project and assess the build cost, as well as the project costs. This is a critical step in the process, and we want to do everything in our power to make this an honest and transparent reality check. This will only come with your investment of some time and some decision making, but your input is essential and It’s important to both of us to get things going in the right direction.

Build – For more on the way we build at The Hardwood Mall, click on the Home By Another Way button on the home page, home tab drop down. For the purposes here, building is the obvious next step. This is where the fun begins, and all the work done to this point comes together. Construction of a smaller home, 1500-2000 square feet, will take 6-9 months from start to completion. Larger homes, of course depending on the size, can take a year plus to build to completion.
